Orion is excited to announce the installation of a new 1.5-inch single-screw extruder at its production facility, further enhancing the company’s research and development, small-lot production, and color-matching capabilities. The addition of this equipment expands Orion’s flexibility and reinforces its ongoing commitment to speed, responsiveness, and innovation in custom thermoplastic compounding.
The new extruder is designed specifically to support small-batch runs and experimental formulations, allowing Orion to efficiently conduct R&D trials, sample production, and pilot-scale evaluations. It also serves as a critical tool for formulation development and optimization prior to scale-up on Orion’s full production lines.
“This investment allows us to be even more agile in supporting customer development projects,” said Ryan Divens. “We can now move from concept to validation faster — whether it’s for a new material formulation, a custom color, or a specialty compound.”
